Product Introduction

3D Systems, a developer of 3D printing technologies, has introduced the MJP 300W Plus, the latest addition to its portfolio of end-to-end solutions for jewelry manufacturing. The most advanced 3D wax printer offers jewelers of all sizes the freedom to handle a variety of manufacturing processes with higher efficiency. The MJP 300W Plus prints extremely complex wax models used for casting precious metal jewelry. The combination of exceptional resolution and soluble, meltable supports enables precise surface quality, thereby reducing the need for extensive post-processing and costly polishing of the finished precious metal castings.
When the MJP 300W Plus is used in combination with 3D Systems’ portfolio of VisiJet 100% wax materials, manufacturers of wax jewelry patterns – from mass producers to individual jewelry designers – can realize new designs more efficiently and with much greater design freedom. This design freedom comes with lower manufacturing costs, as less gold or other precious metals are lost during final polishing.

Print Modes and Performance

A key component of the MJP 300W Plus design is improvements to the print modes available in 3D Sprint. The printer features three modes – “High Resolution,” “Premium,” and “Standard” – which are optimized for a 30% productivity increase, 20% lower total material consumption, and improved surface finish thanks to the proprietary “Surface Enhance” feature compared to other available wax model solutions. The availability of three print modes offers improved flexibility in build planning for day and night shifts to meet the requirements of all design styles regarding speed, geometric complexity, and surface quality.
The High-Resolution mode (QHD) continues to offer exceptional quality and resolution – 2,400 dpi in X, 1,800 dpi in Y, and 1,800 dpi in Z – while operating at higher speeds and consuming 20% less material than other available systems. The 8-µm Premium mode (ZHD) was specifically developed for producing high-resolution patterns with upward-facing contours and achieves remarkable detail and precision efficiently. The total throughput in this mode has been increased by more than 30% compared to the predecessor model. The Standard mode (XHD), on the other hand, offers an optimal balance between speed and quality, allowing manufacturers to quickly produce a larger number of patterns. This mode offers productivity increases of up to 30% compared to the MJP 300W, making it ideal for producing jewelry pieces in large quantities.

Cost Reduction and Sustainability

To reduce product costs, the 3D Systems print process engineers have enabled the use of breakaway supports, which reduce the required post-processing time by up to 60% and material waste by up to 50%. This innovation lowers costs, improves throughput, and minimizes environmental impact compared to current manufacturing methods.

Data Security

The MJP 300W Plus was designed with data security in mind. All pattern design files are stored locally and not in the cloud to protect valuable intellectual property. Furthermore, this printer meets the requirements of a variety of cybersecurity standards that will come into effect in 2027 in both the United States and Europe. This allows jewelry manufacturers to trust not only the security of their intellectual property but also their business operations.
