Combination of Exceptional Resolution and Soluble, Meltable Supports Enables Precise Surface Quality

3D Systems, a developer of 3D printing technologies, has introduced the MJP 300W Plus, the latest addition to its comprehensive solutions portfolio for jewelry manufacturing. This next-generation wax 3D printer offers jewelers of all sizes the freedom to manage various production workflows with increased efficiency. The MJP 300W Plus prints highly complex wax patterns used for casting precious metal jewelry. Its combination of exceptional resolution and soluble, meltable supports enables precise surface quality, thereby reducing the need for lengthy and costly finishing and polishing steps on the resulting precious metal pieces.
When used with 3D Systems’ VisiJet 100% wax material portfolio, the MJP 300W Plus enables wax pattern manufacturers—from high-volume producers to custom jewelry creators—to design new models more efficiently while benefiting from greater creative freedom. This freedom is accompanied by reduced production costs, thanks to decreased loss of gold or other precious metals during final polishing.

Enhanced Printing Modes and Productivity

The design of the MJP 300W Plus incorporates several improvements in the printing modes available via 3D Sprint. The printer offers three modes—High Resolution, Premium, and Standard—optimized to deliver up to a 30% increase in productivity, a 20% reduction in material consumption, and better surface finish thanks to the company’s exclusive Surface Enhance function, compared to other wax pattern solutions. These three printing modes offer greater flexibility in production scheduling, day or night, according to the specific speed, geometric complexity, and surface quality requirements of each jewelry style.
The High Resolution (QHD) mode retains its ability to deliver exceptional quality and resolution—2,400 dpi in X, 1,800 dpi in Y, and 1,800 dpi in Z—while operating at higher speeds and consuming 20% less material than other available systems. The 8 µm Premium mode (ZHD) is specifically designed to produce models with superior contours and remarkable fidelity, offering exceptional detail and accuracy. Overall throughput in this mode has been increased by over 30% compared to the previous model. As for the Standard mode (XHD), it offers an optimal balance between speed and quality, allowing manufacturers to quickly produce a larger number of models. This mode improves productivity by up to 30% compared to the MJP 300W, making it an ideal solution for high-volume jewelry production.

Reduced Post-Processing and Data Security

To reduce production costs, 3D Systems’ print process engineers have developed the use of detachable supports, decreasing post-processing time by up to 60% and support material waste by up to 50%. This innovation reduces costs, improves yield, and minimizes environmental impact compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
The MJP 300W Plus has also been designed with data security in mind. All model design files are stored locally, rather than in the cloud, to protect intellectual property. Furthermore, this printer meets the requirements of various cybersecurity standards that will come into effect in 2027 in the United States and Europe. Jewelry manufacturers can thus have confidence not only in the security of their intellectual property but also in the reliability of their operations.
