India has been appointed as the chair of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) for the year 2026. The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme established in 2003 to prevent “conflict diamonds” from entering the mainstream rough diamond market. India’s chairmanship will involve overseeing the implementation of the scheme, facilitating discussions among member countries, and working towards strengthening the global framework for ethical diamond sourcing.
