IGI Opens Second Gemology Lab in Jaipur

IGI has inaugurated its second laboratory in Jaipur’s Sitapura, which will strengthen its presence in North India.
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) inaugurated its second laboratory in Sitapura, Jaipur, on January 29, 2026. IGI strategically chose Jaipur, renowned for colored gemstones, polki, and jewelry craftsmanship, to be closer to the gems and jewelry trade and provide faster, reliable services. This new lab will reduce grading turnaround times, enhance operational capacity, and offer better support to manufacturers and exporters.

“The growing global demand for colored gemstones, personalized jewelry, and fusion designs has increased the need for expert examination and advanced technology,” said Tehmasp Printer, Managing Director and Global CEO of IGI.

This new laboratory in Jaipur will offer IGI’s full suite of certification services for diamonds, colored gemstones, and jewelry, utilizing advanced technologies such as Raman spectrometry, UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, and X-ray fluorescence.
Additionally, educational programs under the IGI School of Gemology will be launched at the Sitapura office, promoting skill development at the local level. With this new launch, IGI now operates 35 laboratories and 21 Schools of Gemology across 10 countries. For over 50 years, IGI has been a global standard for transparency, trust, and quality in the diamond and gemstone industry.
