Traditionally, the stone processing industry in India is one of the oldest industries, involved in the construction of temples, palaces, and grand buildings. Here, marble, granite, slate stone, and many other types of stone are used to manifest creative expressions. The major exhibition for the stone industry, Stonemart-2026, is being held at the Sitapura Industrial Area, JECC Ground.
Business Remedies gathered information from Hitesh Patel, an experienced entrepreneur long active in the stone industry, regarding the key requirements of the stone processing industry.
He explained that currently, stone processing-related work is being done through computerized and CNC-based machines. In such a scenario, it is essential for painters, operators, programmers, supervisors, and designers to be proficient in their respective disciplines. For this, the industry must focus on training. This will not only provide the industry with skilled and capable workers, but they will also establish new industries as entrepreneurs.
The central government has also intensified efforts in this regard through ‘Skill India’. The central government believes that to realize the vision of a developed India by 2047, a large number of skilled people will be needed. The stone industry must pay special attention to establishing training systems in collaboration with the machinery industry. The motivation to work in the stone industry will only awaken in people when they get employment and good compensation packages.
