Kering is expanding its commitment to sustainable innovation in luxury with the second edition of its dedicated jewelry award, aiming to catalyze material solutions that reduce the industry’s environmental footprint.

Following the success of the first edition, Kering announced on Friday the second phase of the Kering Generation Award X Jewelry, a program to promote sustainable innovation in the jewelry sector.
The French luxury group – whose brands include Boucheron – states that awarding this prize aims to reduce the impact of the jewelry industry by promoting innovative materials from other industrial sectors, from waste streams, or through novel production methods.
The initiative also places a particular focus on artificial intelligence applications, especially tools to support design, sampling, production, or any other form of optimization, as well as the latest advances in packaging through alternative materials, reusable formats, or low-ecological-footprint systems.
The prize, awarded in partnership with the International Confederation of Jewelry, Jewelry, Goldsmithing, Diamonds, Pearls and Precious Stones (CIBJO) under the scientific coordination of Politecnico di Milano, brings together startups as well as ten universities and academies from around the world that offer jewelry training.
The finalists will present their projects to the jury next July during Paris Haute Couture Week.
The winner of the startups category will receive a mentoring program from POLI.design, an institution of Politecnico di Milano, while the winner of the student category will be offered an internship at one of Kering’s jewelry houses.
The first edition of the Kering Generation Award X Jewelry took place last year on the occasion of the international JCK jewelry trade show in Las Vegas.
