Following the Bhoomi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony), Vedanta Resources has officially commenced excavation work at the Sonakhan gold block in Chhattisgarh. This development establishes Sonakhan as India’s fourth active gold mining site.
The project is hailed as a significant step towards boosting domestic gold production and reducing India’s reliance on imports. The block is expected to yield high-quality, ‘original’ gold, contributing to the local economy and generating employment in the region.
The activation of the Sonakhan mine aligns with national efforts to enhance mineral security and develop the mining sector. It represents a key investment in the country’s natural resource infrastructure.
