Jakarta – The US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn President Donald Trump’s global tariff policies has delivered a serious blow to the American people and stripped Trump of significant influence, said US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant.

On Friday (20/2 local time), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 vote that President Donald Trump is not authorized to impose global tariffs based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Trump said the US Supreme Court’s (MA) decision was “very disappointing” and accused the MA of being influenced by “foreign interests.”

He then also stated that all national security tariffs would remain in effect, and that the MA’s decision specifically relates to the use of IEEPA tariffs.
