Another case highlighting the growing audacity of criminals has emerged in Chhapra, Bihar. Defiant armed criminals executed a major robbery at a gold jewelry shop in broad daylight, posing an open challenge to the police system. The incident occurred in Mahmmadpur Bazaar under the jurisdiction of Manjhi police station in Saran district, where around five criminals arrived on Sunday afternoon and targeted a jewelry shop.

According to information received, the criminals entered the gold and silver shop owned by Brij Biharilal in Mahmmadpur Bazaar, looted ornaments worth about Rs 15 lakh, and fled. Eyewitnesses stated that the criminals arrived at the market riding on two motorcycles. They first stood outside the shop to assess the situation, after which four criminals entered the shop with weapons, while one criminal remained outside on lookout.

Upon entering the shop, the criminals threatened the shopkeeper and employees at gunpoint and began filling bags with gold and silver ornaments kept in the counter. During this, one criminal standing outside fired shots in the air, causing panic and chaos in the market, leaving people terrified. Due to fear, no one could oppose the criminals. Completing the entire operation in just a few minutes, all the criminals fled the scene.

After the incident, panic spread in Mahmmadpur Bazaar, and an atmosphere of fear prevailed among local shopkeepers. Upon receiving information, Manjhi police station personnel reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and began the investigation. A police team led by SDPO Raj Kumar recovered a cartridge from the scene. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being scrutinized. Police are interrogating the shopkeeper and eyewitnesses to identify the criminals.

Demand for Increased Police Patrols

This daylight robbery has raised serious questions about the security arrangements in the area. Local residents say that the increasing frequency of criminal incidents is heightening the sense of insecurity among traders. They have demanded an increase in police patrols in the area.

Meanwhile, Saran police claim that the criminals will be identified and their arrest ensured soon. Taking the matter seriously, Saran’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vineet Kumar has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Police say strict action will be taken against all accused involved in the robbery.
