A major theft was carried out by unknown thieves on Monday night in Gajrajganj market under the Gajrajganj OP area of Bhojpur district. The cunning thieves broke the lock of ‘Parshwanath Jewellers’ located in the market and made off with gold and silver jewellery worth millions of rupees. When news of this theft incident broke on Tuesday morning, it caused a sensation among local businessmen and in the area.
According to information received, the family of the shopkeeper lives on the upper floor of the same market where Parshwanath Jewellers is located. Late on Monday night, the thieves entered the market from the rear entrance, cut the lock of the shop’s shutter, and went inside. The thieves neatly collected the valuable jewellery kept in the shop’s counters and showcases and fled. According to the shop owner, the value of the stolen jewellery is estimated to be in the millions.
The entire incident was recorded on the CCTV cameras installed in the shop. Analysis of the footage revealed that three to four thieves were involved in this incident. Although all the criminals had masks on their faces, one thief’s face is clearly visible in the footage. The police administration has taken possession of the CCTV footage and has intensified efforts to identify and arrest the criminals through technical investigation. However, an official FIR has not yet been registered by the shopkeeper in this case.
Deep resentment is being observed among local businessmen following this theft incident. Traders say that doing business is becoming increasingly unsafe due to the rising criminal incidents day by day.
