This brief item, based on a survey of professionals, highlights a notable trend in hiring sentiment for 2026. While the data points to optimism, particularly within tech and banking, readers should note the survey’s limited scope and that these are forward-looking expectations, not confirmed hiring plans.

New Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS). Approximately 52 percent of employees in the technology and banking sectors from India and the US have stated that their companies are planning to hire more people in India in 2026.
A report released on Wednesday by ‘Blind’, a community app for professionals, stated that 34 percent of people expect a significant increase in hiring in India, while 18 percent believe there will be a moderate level of increase in hiring.
This survey involved 2,392 verified professionals from the US and India. The report stated that this indicates that major global tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, and eBay are now assigning more work to India.
When people were asked about the impact of increased hiring in India on US jobs, 38 percent of people said it is replacing some US-based positions, while 23 percent of people said it is complementary to US hiring.
The report explained that 28 percent of people said companies are hiring more people in India due to stricter H-1B visa rules in the US, while 25 percent of people believe these rules have not made a significant difference.
Meanwhile, about 4 percent of people said that due to visa rules, hiring has increased only within US-based companies.
The report stated that India is increasingly becoming a strong alternative to the US. Many companies are now expanding their teams in India instead of expanding in the US. This is leading to a major shift in workforce planning at a global level.
Up to 93 percent of employees from companies like eBay, Wayfair, LinkedIn, Qualcomm, Capital One, Google, Amazon, Salesforce, SAP, and Microsoft reported that their companies are planning to increase hiring in India.
Discussing the methods of expansion in India, 25 percent of people said their companies are expanding existing Indian teams. Meanwhile, about 20 percent of people reported that new positions are being hired for in India, while 20 percent of people said that certain specific tasks and projects are being transferred to India.
