The President of the Republic presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Mavamar Industries SA refinery on Tuesday in Sendou, in the Rufisque department (west). The industrial unit has a refining capacity of 600 tons of oil per day.

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye welcomed the scale of the investment, praising the quality of the facilities and the technological level achieved by Mavamar Industries SA. According to him, the establishment of this refinery eloquently illustrates “the private sector’s ability to carry out projects that create sustainable jobs,” thus contributing to national economic development.

The President of the Republic recalled that the State’s mission is to ensure the regulation of economic sectors and guarantee the protection of investors, while entrepreneurs “take risks, innovate, create jobs and generate wealth.” For his part, the company’s Managing Director, Souleymane Ndoye, indicated that the total investment leading to the creation of Mavamar Industries SA amounts to 60 billion CFA francs. The refinery is expected to create about 450 direct jobs and nearly 200 indirect jobs, Mr. Ndoye specified.

With a refining capacity of 600 tons of oil per day, Mavamar Industries SA will produce edible oils for the local market, thus contributing to the reduction of imports, according to its general management.
