This exhibition highlights a creative journey, showcasing how two sisters transitioned from teaching to crafting jewelry, finding joy in the handmade process. Their debut show, “Just Beginning,” reflects a fresh start in the art of adornment.

[Handmaker Reporter Choi Mi-ri] An exhibition titled “Just Beginning,” introducing the jewelry works of two sisters, is being held at the Seoul Jewelry Support Center.
This exhibition marks the first showcase of works by the two sisters, who began by newly learning jewelry making after a long period of teaching. They entered the world of jewelry work, inspired by the joy of the handcrafting process, and have unfolded their learning and production journey through this exhibition.
The exhibition “Just Beginning” captures the present moment of the two sisters who started jewelry making. One has chosen to start a jewelry business, combining production and sales, while the other continues learning and creating, seeking her own direction in work.
The exhibition focuses not on highly polished final products, but rather on the initial sensory experience of materials, the movement of hands, and the attitude towards jewelry. The exhibition title ‘Just Beginning’ carries the meaning of accepting the state of time that has just started as it is. The sisters’ works calmly show life choices and the pace of work, rather than flamboyance or technical perfection.
The two sisters first learned jewelry making through the Seoul Citizen University program at Induk University’s Lifelong Education Center. Subsequently, they have been acquiring more advanced production skills at the Jewelry 3D Printing Department of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Technical Education Institute’s Central Campus.
After their education, they continued their work primarily at the prototype production studio of the Seoul Jewelry Support Center. Last year, they were introduced as the most active users of the prototype production studio, which led to an opportunity to exhibit at the Seoul Jewelry Showroom.
Based on these experiences, the two plan to continue preparations with the goal of eventually launching their own jewelry brand. The exhibition “Just Beginning” will run until February 7th.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Jewelry Support Center operates spaces supporting jewelry production and marketing, including a jewelry photo studio, prototype production studio, shared appraisal equipment room, and jewelry showroom. Related information can be found on the center’s website.
