Editor’s Note
This event highlights a strategic shift from simply selling regional products to promoting entire local industries on a national stage. By bringing over 300 distinctive goods to Beijing, Shanwei is not just facilitating commerce but is building its brand and showcasing its industrial capabilities directly to a key market.

From February 11th to 12th, the “Guangdong Goods Travel the World · Shanwei Good Things Enter Beijing” event, hosted by the Shanwei Municipal People’s Government, was held at the Beijing Chaoyang International Trade Mall. Thirty local enterprises showcased over 300 distinctive products, bridging mountains and seas to converge in the capital. This was not just a concentrated sales event for New Year goods; it was a three-dimensional roadshow showcasing industrial strength and city image. Consumers in the capital saw not only exquisite and practical “Shanwei Good Things” filling their eyes, but also the manufacturing intelligence and industrial core of a coastal city.
Lin Shaohua, General Manager of Jade Garden, introduced exquisite jewelry made from natural aquamarine, tourmaline, and tourmaline to customers in front of the booth. This local enterprise, with a 500-square-meter factory and over a dozen stores, is a vivid footnote to the leap of Shanwei’s jewelry industry from processing and manufacturing to brand operation.
In the “Practical Shanwei” exhibition area, the charm of the “Capital of Chinese Colored Gemstones” is evident: flowing aquamarine, colorful tourmaline, warm and moist agate… These gemstones are not just aesthetic carriers, but also the crystallization of precision manufacturing. From 3D printing and accelerated design sampling to laser engraving for fine pattern detailing, and then to intelligent CNC equipment ensuring batch standardization, Shanwei’s jewelry industry has embarked on an upgrade path driven by both “technology + aesthetics”.
Data as proof: The city currently has 21,000 market entities for gold, silver, and jewelry, with an annual processing volume of over 50,000 tons of colored gemstones and about 9,000 tons of gold and silver jewelry. The industrial scale reaches 35 billion yuan, with aquamarine processing accounting for over 70% globally. More notably, relying on the “cross-border e-commerce + industrial belt” model, in the first 11 months of 2025, Shanwei’s online retail sales of gold, silver, and jewelry broke through 8.93 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.8 times, with products sold to over 180 countries and regions. From “making wedding dresses for others” to “going global with its own brand”, Shanwei’s jewelry is moving from behind the scenes of the world’s factory to the forefront of global consumption.
As the “main force” of the promotion, the “Delicious Shanwei” exhibition area is like a modern山海经 written with technology.
Standing in front of the open kitchen of the “Seafood Theme Pavilion”, Zhong Xuehuan, Director of the Shanwei Municipal Commerce Bureau, enthusiastically introduced to surrounding Beijing citizens: “Coming to Beijing this time, we just want everyone to see the good products nurtured by this good seawater in Shanwei!”
On site, fish swam and tumbled in the clear water, fresh oysters sizzled on the hot grill, and hairtail fish were sliced into translucent fillets. Li Qun, Assistant General Manager of Shanwei Guotai Food Co., Ltd., picked up a plate of silver-white fish meat:
This aquaculture enterprise, rooted in Shanwei for 23 years, has built a full industrial chain from breeding, processing to sales.
Shanwei’s fishery resources are abundant on one side: fish, shrimp, crabs, shellfish, and algae are all available, with aquatic products reaching 14 categories, 107 species, and over 860 varieties. In 2024, the city’s total aquatic product output was about 627,900 tons, with an output value of 14.51 billion yuan, accounting for 41.9% of the total output value of the primary industry. In recent years, Shanwei has taken “standardized marine aquaculture factories” as a starting point to promote the scale and branding of marine ranching. Since 2023, 25 projects have started construction, with a total investment of about 8.5 billion yuan, and the output value of the entire industrial chain has exceeded 15.4 billion yuan.
From sea to land, the logic of technology empowerment is consistent. In the “Delicious Shanwei” agricultural products exhibition area, red treasure stone lychees were cut open, revealing crystal red flesh and emitting a rich fragrance.
Huang Yufei, Secretary of the Fourth Community Party Branch of Huajing Management Zone, Huajing Street, Shanwei City, cut the fruit while inviting guests to taste it.
Green plums turn into plum sauce, red bayberries turn into powder, and oil oranges turn into white jelly… Deep processing technology allows traditional agricultural products to break through the constraints of seasons and regions. Killing enzymes, extraction, fermentation, cold chain—each upgraded process extends the value chain, allowing “local specialties” to climb the ladder of high-end consumption.
Although the “Fun Shanwei” exhibition area is mainly for display, it profoundly reveals the underlying logic behind “Good Things”—the integrated development of cultural and tourism industries.
The singing voice of Chen Xiaoli, a national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Shanwei Fishing Songs, resonated in the “Fun Shanwei” exhibition area, attracting many citizens to stop. On one side, the sound of tea grinding rose and fell; on the other, the Chaozhou drum dance, passed down for over 560 years, suddenly started. Oysters, clay dolls and other creative cultural products around were cute and lovely, and shell jewelry brought traditional patterns into daily life.
This is no longer a static product display, but a cultural scene that can be experienced and consumed. Shadow puppet elements are developed into stationery and toys; traditional shell carving is combined with modern design, becoming earrings and pendants. Culture is no longer just the “backdrop” for “good things”, but has become the engine for industrial upgrading. From competing on cost-performance to gaining recognition for cultural value, Shanwei is exploring a new path of promoting industry with culture and highlighting culture with industry.
From the aura of gemstones to the delicious taste of seafood, from intangible cultural heritage to attentive craftsmanship, each display is a vivid interpretation of Shanwei’s industrial transformation and innovative vitality. When Beijing consumers feel Shanwei through “Shanwei Good Things”, they see not only the manufacturing intelligence of a coastal city, but also a dynamic, three-dimensional, and vibrant industrial development landscape.
