【Ghaziabad, I】Jewelry Worth Two Crore Rupees Stolen from Tanishq Showroom in Ghaziabad; Staff Plied with Alcohol Under Pretext of Birthday Party, Keys Stolen

Editor’s Note

**Editor’s Note:** This report details a sophisticated theft at a Ghaziabad Tanishq showroom, where a salesman and an accomplice allegedly stole jewelry worth over ₹2.5 crore after drugging staff during a fake birthday party. The case highlights significant security lapses and is under active investigation.

Ghaziabad Tanishq Showroom Theft Uncovered

A salesman at a Tanishq jewelry store in Ghaziabad, in collusion with an accomplice, stole gold, silver, and gem-studded ornaments worth over two and a half crore rupees. The suspects plied staff with alcohol under the pretext of a birthday party, stole the keys, and fled after the heist.

According to an audit by the Tanishq group and police sources, the thieves made off with approximately three kilograms of gold, silver, and gem-studded jewelry. However, the victim has not yet provided the police with a detailed list of the stolen items, possibly to avoid disclosing details to GST and income tax authorities.

“ACP Kavinagar Suryabali Maurya stated that showroom salesman Nitin Verma, along with his neighbor Titu, carried out the theft at the Tanishq Jewelers showroom. Titu works at a Pizza Hut and, according to his family, left home at 5 AM on the day of the crime, claiming he was going to visit Khatu Shyam.”

On June 5, Nitin Verma, working as a salesman at the Tanishq Jewelers showroom, hosted a birthday party for other salesmen, security guards, and the cashier on Thursday night at a roadside eatery in RDC. He plied them with alcohol, stole the cashier’s keys, and then committed the theft at the Tanishq showroom.

Nitin carried out the theft while wearing the showroom’s sales uniform, so that if the case came to light, he could claim he was an employee of the showroom. The location of both suspects has been traced to Meerut district.

Stolen Jewelry Deal Struck in Meerut

According to police sources, Nitin Verma and Titu have struck a deal with a jeweler in the Sarrafa market of Meerut district to sell the stolen ornaments. Three teams from the Commissionerate Police have set up camp in Meerut district, and police sources claim that both accused will be arrested soon.

“An audit of the theft at the Tanishq showroom is still underway, and theft worth crores is suspected. However, the Tanishq group has not yet submitted the audit report. From CCTV footage, it is estimated that both accused have been identified. Arrests will be made soon.” – DP City Dhaval Jaiswal
