However, this powerful upward trend raises questions about whether gold prices can maintain their upward momentum in the future. If you are interested in today’s (April 16, 2025) gold prices, now is a good time to closely monitor market trends. Tomorrow’s (April 17, 2025) gold price is expected to continue its upward trend, with the global gold price forecast to maintain a high level of $3,350.04 per ounce and the domestic gold price forecast at 113-116 million VND per tael. Gold investment opportunities are now boundless!
As of 6:00 PM on April 16, 2025 (Vietnam time), the gold spot price recorded by Kitco was $3,304.33 per ounce. Applying the free market exchange rate (25,960 VND/USD), the global gold price corresponds to approximately 104.55 million VND per tael (excluding taxes and fees). Today (April 16, 2025), the global gold price surpassed $3,300 per ounce for the first time in history. Specifically, the spot gold price rose 2.3% to $3,301.78 per ounce, reaching an intraday all-time high of $3,317.90 per ounce. US gold futures also rose 2.4% to $3,317.70 per ounce. The sharp rise in gold prices was driven by investors flocking to safe-haven assets after US President Donald Trump suggested the possibility of imposing new tariffs on key mineral imports. This move heightened trade tensions, particularly with China, the world’s largest mineral producer.
Since the beginning of 2025, gold prices have risen nearly 26%. Several factors have contributed to this trend. First, tariff disputes between nations have solidified gold’s position as a safe-haven asset. Second, central banks worldwide are buying large quantities of gold to secure their foreign exchange reserves. Third, expectations of future interest rate cuts have also enhanced the appeal of gold, a non-interest-bearing asset. Finally, inflows into gold investment funds have contributed to the price increase. ANZ Bank has even predicted that gold prices could reach $3,600 per ounce by the end of this year and $3,500 within the next six months.
