Editor’s Note
Sir Elton John is parting with a trove of personal possessions—from iconic stagewear and art to intimate memorabilia—in an auction of contents from his Atlanta villa.

Everything must go from the house: Sir Elton John is auctioning off all his possessions from his villa in Atlanta. Up for sale is a lot of jewelry, even more silk shirts, and a damn lot of pictures and photos.
Silver platform shoes with a monogram, photos of the Beatles and himself, a triptych by the artist Banksy, and a very, very large amount of Versace. The British pop icon Elton John is having the contents of his villa in Atlanta, including many personal items, auctioned off.

Most of the objects came from the singer’s recently sold apartment in the US state of Georgia, explained the auction house Christie’s. Starting February 21, there will be a series of eight sale dates for the singer’s collection.
Under the hammer will be silk shirts by Versace, decorative items, and a portrait of John painted by artist Julian Schnabel. The collection also includes an ivory and gold-colored jumpsuit from the early 70s, photographs by star photographer Helmut Newton, and works by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.

John acquired his home in Atlanta shortly after his drug rehabilitation in 1990, Christie’s explained. He found “comfort and support in the warm-hearted community and recovery facilities” there.
