The Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF has announced Ravenya Atchalak and Krishnadeo Seechurn as the winners of its inaugural education scholarships.

“They will each receive free tuition for an educational course at the lab, based in Basel, Switzerland, as well as flights and hotel accommodation.”

SSEF said both recipients have demonstrated commitment to gemology and seek to use their education to further gemological expertise in their home countries—Atchalak is from Thailand and Seechurn is from Mauritius.

“The scholarships, established by the SSEF Foundation, were created to make high-level gemological education accessible,” the lab said.

More than 300 applications were submitted for this year’s awards. The honors will be awarded annually to individuals with a passion for gemology, SSEF said.
