An important update has emerged regarding the Learjet 45 aircraft accident in Mumbai. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has stated that the investigation into this accident, which occurred on September 14, 2023, has now reached its final stages.
The accident involved a business jet, Learjet 45, belonging to VSR Ventures, which had flown from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai. On September 14, 2023, during landing at Mumbai Airport, the aircraft went out of control. At that time, there were six passengers and two crew members on board. Fortunately, no one died in the accident, but the co-pilot sustained serious injuries, while the main pilot and all passengers received minor injuries. However, the aircraft was completely destroyed.
The AAIB’s initial investigation revealed that during landing, the aircraft was continuously veering to the right on runway 27. After losing control, the aircraft crashed at the crossing of taxiways ‘W’ and ‘N’. According to the investigating agency, all physical evidence, flight data, cockpit inputs, and other technical documents related to the accident have been meticulously studied. The investigation team is now engaged in finalizing the report with its conclusions to prevent such accidents in the future.
Another Learjet 45 aircraft belonging to VSR Ventures was recently involved in an accident in Baramati, Maharashtra, on January 28, 2026. In that crash, the aircraft caught fire, resulting in the deaths of the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer, an assistant, and two crew members. The seriousness of the matter is heightened by this. Following two consecutive accidents, questions are being raised about the safety and operation of Learjet 45 aircraft. Therefore, all eyes are now on the AAIB’s final investigation report.
