Strong Recovery in Gold and Silver Amid Global Tensions

Gold surged to ₹1,41,540 per 10 grams and silver crossed ₹2,20,830 per kilogram, driven by heavy buying at lower levels.

Hyderabad: Following strong signals from global markets and robust value buying at domestic lower prices, gold and silver prices witnessed a significant recovery in the Indian bullion market today. After two days of heavy selling, both precious metals rebounded sharply. According to the latest data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), gold rose by over ₹900 and silver by more than ₹3,000 per kilogram today.

Spot Prices According to IBJA

Market experts attribute the support to increased domestic demand amid geopolitical uncertainty globally. Both metals showed an upward trend at market opening today:

Gold: Reached ₹1,41,540.00 per 10 grams, up +₹960.00 (+0.68%) from yesterday.
Silver: Traded at ₹2,20,830.00 per kilogram, reflecting a strong gain of +₹3,080.00 (+1.41%), driven by industrial demand and a robust global trend.

Retail Prices in Major Indian Cities

Alongside the futures market, spot (retail) prices for gold and silver also changed in various states and major cities across the country. According to data from IBJA and key local markets, the prices for 24-carat (pure gold) and 22-carat (jewelry-grade gold) in different cities today are as follows:

Key Reasons Behind the Sudden Surge

Commodity experts believe that escalating military tensions between the US and Iran in West Asia, along with ongoing instability in the Strait of Hormuz, have pushed crude oil prices up by over 4%. Rising crude oil prices raise the risk of global inflation. Whenever economic or geopolitical uncertainty increases worldwide, investors turn to gold as a safe-haven investment. This led to aggressive buying at lower levels today after yesterday’s sharp decline, allowing prices to bounce back.

“Global tensions and lower prices triggered strong buying, supporting the recovery in gold and silver.”
