**Editor’s Note:** Queen Camilla revived a rarely seen moonstone and diamond brooch for a recent engagement, pairing the enigmatic piece with a monochrome Anna Valentine dress at Clarence House.
Queen Camilla brought one of the more mysterious jewels in her personal collection back into rotation on Wednesday, pairing her moonstone and diamond brooch with a mostly monochrome Anna Valentine look for the Royal Osteoporosis Society at Clarence House in London.

The brooch features a milky blue cabochon gemstone set between two bands of diamonds. Camilla has worn the piece on several previous occasions, including Buckingham Palace’s first garden party of the 2026 season in May. The brooch made its public debut in July 2022, when Queen Camilla was still the Duchess of Cornwall. She first wore the jewel at Ascot and brought it out again later that year during the South African state visit. The brooch has often been paired with wardrobe pieces that pick up the blue tone of the central gemstone.
Sartorial symbolism is often a route several members of the British royal family take when they put together an ensemble for a high-profile occasion. Although the origins of the brooch itself are still unknown, the meaning behind the moonstone could indicate reflection, celebration or various attributes Queen Camilla wanted to emphasize at Wednesday’s event. The lack of confirmed provenance only adds to the interest surrounding each reappearance.
Camilla also regularly wears pieces from the late Queen Elizabeth II’s collection, including brooches, tiaras and other sentimental pieces. The moonstone brooch, however, entered her rotation before Elizabeth’s death, suggesting it comes from Camilla’s personal collection.
The cause is personal to the royal: her mother, Rosalind Shand, died at 72 after living with osteoporosis, while her maternal grandmother also died as a result of the disease. Camilla has served as the organization’s president since 2001.
