Huawei is expanding its open earphone lineup with a new, more luxurious version of the FreeClip 2. Dubbed the FreeClip 2 S in Europe, the main differentiators are a metallic finish and an enlarged charging case designed to also carry small accessories or jewelry.

Following the FreeClip 2 launched in 2025, Huawei enriches its open earphone range with the FreeClip 2 S. Already available on the Chinese market as the FreeClip 2 Collector’s Edition, these new models retain the clip-on design but adopt a more luxurious aesthetic.
The key change is the charging case. Huawei replaces the rectangular format of the FreeClip 2 with a rounded, almost spherical case featuring a mirror finish. Its interior space is 20% larger than that of the FreeClip 2, allowing storage of the earphones as well as small jewelry or accessories. This is a move by the brand to strengthen the FreeClip’s positioning as both audio products and fashion items.

The technical side evolves little from the previous model. Like the FreeClip 2, the FreeClip 2 S are equipped with 10.8mm dual-diaphragm transducers, adaptive volume adjustment, and automatic voice enhancement for calls and podcasts. An inverse sound wave system is also designed to limit audio leakage, which is particularly sensitive in open-ear designs.

As with the FreeClip 2, no earbud is specifically reserved for the left or right ear. The system automatically recognizes their position and assigns the corresponding channel. Controls can be performed via taps, swipes, or head movements, for example to accept or reject a call.
The FreeClip 2 S also support spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, Bluetooth 6.0, and simultaneous connection to two devices, including across different platforms. They are compatible with SBC, AAC, and L2HC codecs. Certified IP57 for dust and water resistance, the earphones offer up to nine hours of playback on a single charge and 38 hours total with the case.
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S are available today at a recommended price of €229.
