Editor’s Note
This season’s Sotheby’s auction features exceptional jadeite jewelry, headlined by a rare “Foshou” pendant symbolizing auspiciousness and longevity.

Sotheby’s will present several top-tier jadeite jewelry pieces in this season’s auction. A major highlight is a natural jadeite ‘Foshou’ (Buddha’s hand) pendant named “Jadeite Auspiciousness and Longevity Pendant.”
Building on last year’s success, Sotheby’s is once again launching a series of “Imperial Green” jadeite jewelry, all of which are superior in color, texture, and transparency.
In recent years, international collectors have shown strong interest in natural jadeite. Collectors come not only from Asia but from all over the world. The trend of appreciating jade has broken through cultural barriers and spread across the globe.
The earrings pictured above are set with a pair of natural Imperial Green jadeite cabochons. The jadeite is of a moist, transparent texture with a vibrant emerald green color. The estimated price for this pair of earrings is HKD 6,000,000 to 8,000,000.
Among the myriad of jadeite jewelry, jadeite bead necklaces have always been highly cherished classics, captivating many socialites. At Sotheby’s Spring 2022 auction, a rare treasure, a natural “Imperial Green” jadeite bead necklace with diamonds, sold for approximately RMB 66,417,500. The necklace is composed of 43 round, large “Imperial Green” jadeite beads, featuring a fine, moist, and crystal-clear texture.
Furthermore, the “Secret Bids: Exquisite Craftsmanship” special auction will feature three ultimate treasures: an Imperial Green top-quality jadeite bead necklace, a 26-carat pink diamond, and a pair of 109-carat yellow diamond earrings.
From the data above, it is not difficult to see that Imperial Green jadeite remains highly popular in the jewelry收藏 market. Moreover, according to Sotheby’s, the highest-priced jadeite exhibit in this auction was not acquired by a collector from the region, indicating that jadeite is no longer confined to a specific area but has begun to move towards the international market.
