Gold prices rebounded slightly from a decline after the U.S. June Producer Price Index (PPI) fell 0.3%, lower than expected, easing concerns about further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. Spot gold rose 0.3% to $4,067.6 per ounce, and U.S. gold futures rose 0.2% to $4,075.8 per ounce.
However, heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran and the risk of oil supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to pressure the market. Rising oil prices could fuel inflation, maintaining high interest rates and reducing gold’s appeal. The $4,000 per ounce level is currently seen as a key support level.
