**Editor’s Note:** Jaipur marks a historic milestone with the first jewellery export shipment to the UK under the India-UK CETA, signaling a major boost for Rajasthan’s gem and jewellery sector.
Jaipur. Jaipur, India’s renowned hub for colored gemstones and handmade jewellery, achieved a historic milestone today. The first jewellery export shipment destined for the United Kingdom under the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) was flagged off from the Air Cargo Complex at Jaipur’s Sanganer International Airport.
This flag-off from Jaipur is part of a nationwide initiative, under which the first jewellery export shipments for the UK under the India-UK CETA are being dispatched from various cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Chennai, and Kolkata.
It was further stated that through the India-UK CETA, import duties of up to 4% on exports to the UK will be eliminated, providing Indian exporters with a significant competitive advantage. Due to the zero-duty facility, India’s gem and jewellery exports are expected to increase from approximately USD 754 million to nearly USD 2.5 billion over the next three years. This will create new opportunities for exporters, manufacturers, MSMEs, artisans, and designers, further strengthening India’s leading position globally in the fields of exquisite craftsmanship, innovation, and value-added jewellery manufacturing.

The dispatch of the first export shipment underscores Jaipur’s significant contribution to India’s gem and jewellery exports and demonstrates the industry’s exporters’ full confidence in the opportunities provided by the India-UK CETA. For the first time, Indian jewellery will enter the UK market with zero duty, enabling Jaipur’s manufacturers and artisans to play a key role in taking India’s global jewellery exports to new heights.
