Editor’s Note
This article highlights Breitling’s latest sustainability report, emphasizing its commitment to traceability and ethical sourcing in its supply chain.

Breitling has released its fifth “Sustainability Mission Report,” focusing on the communities involved in the supply and production of precious materials through traceability and responsible sourcing.
Since 2020, Breitling has placed sustainability at the heart of the brand, setting goals, tracking progress, and reporting results transparently. The fifth Sustainability Mission Report reaffirms Breitling’s consistent stance and complies for the second consecutive year with the rigorous and well-recognized “European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).” This adherence reflects not only Breitling’s values but also its sense of accountability.
said CEO Georges Kern, highlighting Breitling’s role in sustainability.
added Aurelia Figueroa, Sustainability Director.
True to its pioneering tradition, Breitling continues to innovate alongside the communities at the origin of its products. In 2022, Breitling committed to a full transition to “Better Gold,” referring to gold responsibly sourced from artisanal and small-scale mines. It also announced a shift to lab-grown “Better Diamonds” sourced from carefully vetted suppliers. This ensures complete traceability and transparency and directly benefits communities through the “Better Diamond Fund” and “Better Gold Fund.” These funds involve a voluntary premium paid to communities: 30 Swiss Francs per carat of purchased lab-grown diamonds and 1.35 US dollars per gram of gold.
Now in the third year of working with Better Gold and Better Diamond sourcing, concrete results are already visible. Breitling’s Better Gold Fund works directly with Swiss Better Gold (SBG), generating socially and environmentally positive impacts in mining regions and surrounding areas. For example, educational support provided by SBG to a village in Colombia enabled local students to complete region-specific programs, contributing to community strengthening.
The full transition to lab-grown diamonds generated and cut/polished in Gujarat, western India, is also creating tangible change. These facilities operate with full transparency in a climate-neutral environment (net-zero greenhouse gas emissions), many running on 100% renewable energy. As part of efforts to support sustainable transformation across the entire value chain and its sphere of influence, Breitling actively co-invests with both Better Gold and Better Diamond suppliers in introducing renewable energy to drive sustainable change.
Breitling’s Better Diamond Fund collaborates with leaders tackling social issues, partnering with the well-recognized Global Good x Amani to provide education tailored to local and individual needs. This initiative has strengthened local efforts in areas such as children’s education, environmental protection, women’s economic empowerment, and community development. To date, 45 graduates have emerged from the fund’s support programs, creating sustainable and positive impacts in their communities. Breitling will continue to focus on sustainable children’s education for the next generation, working closely with the community organizations it has encountered.
For Breitling, sustainability is not a destination but an evolving endeavor. The journey requires constant effort, flexibility, and a forward-looking perspective. Breitling positions sustainability as a core brand value and a key to creating shared value, voluntarily raising its standards year after year. These efforts have been recognized with the “Platinum Medal” from EcoVadis, an award given only to the top 1% of companies worldwide for their sustainability activities. Details of these various activities can be found in “Breitling’s 2025 Sustainability Mission Report.” The full report is available here.
