Editor’s Note

The 2024 Shenzhen International Jewelry Fair transformed the city’s convention center into a dazzling showcase of premieres, rare gems, and vibrant color. This report captures the bustling energy and visual spectacle that drew crowds of visitors and industry professionals alike.

A Golden Ambiance Fills the Exhibition Halls

In September, a golden ambiance filled the exhibition halls at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. Stepping into the 2024 Shenzhen International Jewelry Fair, visitors were greeted by a dazzling array of jewelry premieres, rare gemstones, and brilliant colors, creating a feast for the eyes. Major exhibition halls were bustling with crowds, with a constant stream of visitors coming to view the exhibits and make inquiries.

The vibrant scene inside the exhibition halls is a microcosm of the robust development of Shenzhen’s fashion exhibition industry.

“Wind Vane” Guides Industry Trends

The recently concluded Shenzhen International Jewelry Fair undoubtedly serves as a window to observe the domestic and international gold and jewelry industry.

More than 500 domestic and international exhibitors showcased new designs, new craftsmanship, and new products, leading a new wave of consumer trends. Without leaving the exhibition hall, one could get a glimpse of the latest dynamics in the industry.

Fashion exhibitions embody the wave of technological change, serving as an important platform for technological exchange and trade cooperation. They also provide forward-looking information for many “cross-border players” to grasp market trends and make timely responses, guiding new directions for the fashion industry.

In March, the 39th Shenzhen International Furniture Fair and the inaugural Shenzhen International Smart Home Expo were held concurrently. Visitors could not only see new products from well-known domestic and international brands but also understand the new trends and directions in the home furnishing industry.

Smart beds, smart wardrobes, AI water purifiers, and other smart home products attracted crowds of visitors queuing to inquire and experience. Forums like the Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Conference and “The Application and Innovation of AI in the Home Field” gathered industry leaders to discuss future industry transformation trends.

A series of professional and international fashion exhibitions are held throughout the year, covering categories such as consumer electronics, apparel, jewelry, watches, and home furnishings.

The 19th China (Shenzhen) International Brand Clothing Fair attracted over 1,500 domestic and international brands to participate, with buyer groups from about 20 countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, and Thailand coming to view and purchase.

“Every time I come, I can see new changes, meet different talents and various innovative ideas, and ‘touch’ the entire industry at the exhibition.”

Although it was his sixth time attending the Shenzhen apparel fair, René Célestin, founder of the well-known international fashion customization company OBO, had new discoveries each time.

“Catalyst” Drives Industry Progress

In April this year, the Shenzhen Original Fashion Week was held in the Fashion Valley of Futian District, providing a stage for new and original designers to exchange and showcase.

“This event allows for creative exchanges with peers and also helps understand the hinterland market and customers. It’s a great opportunity for us.”

Exhibitions are lively, and cities gain traffic. Exhibitions have polished Shenzhen’s fashion name cards such as “China’s Hardware Capital,” “Shenzhen Fashion,” and “Henggang Glasses,” and have closely connected with high-end resources, interacting closely with local industries.

The 19th China (Shenzhen) International Brand Clothing Fair achieved nearly 20 billion yuan in direct and indirect transaction volume. High-quality enterprises like Maoren and Vivienne Tam signed contracts with Guangming District to establish company headquarters, R&D, and sales centers.

During the 2024 Shenzhen-Milan Dual City Fashion Week, Shenzhen fashion enterprises reached strategic cooperation with Italian public relations companies and fashion brands. Longhua District also established its first Showroom to build a platform for fashion brands and buyers to select and order goods.

Chinese brand representatives expressed hope to strengthen exchanges between Shenzhen and the Milan fashion world and also hope more Italian brands can establish long-term presence in Shenzhen Showroom exhibition halls.

Shenzhen fashion exhibitions also promote integrated exhibition and sales to stimulate business. The 2023 FAST Shenzhen Eyewear Fashion Week linked core business circles, large-scale shopping malls, and hundreds of brand stores, synchronizing exhibition displays with promotions. During the 2023 Shenzhen International Consumer Electronics Fair, exhibitors and visitors walked out of the exhibition hall to “China’s First Electronics Street” – Huaqiangbei for one-stop shopping and consumption.

The bustling fashion exhibition cycle connects domestic and international markets, “attracting fans” for Shenzhen brands and “empowering and adding value” for industrial enterprises, achieving a “win-win” situation for the industry and the city.

“New Heights” Elevate Development Standards

By the Shenzhen Bay, the wide roof of the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center resembles rolling waves, hosting a dense schedule of exhibitions throughout the year, attracting domestic and international exhibitors from near and far. According to statistics, in 2023, Shenzhen hosted a total of 186 exhibitions with an exhibition area of over 10,000 square meters, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 times, with a total exhibition area of 9.68 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 times.

Shenzhen is accelerating the construction of a world-class exhibition venue cluster, continuously improving the exhibition ecosystem, and striving to build an internationally influential exhibition capital.
