Sant Kabir Nagar. In anticipation of the wedding season starting from February 5th, activity has returned to electronics, jewellery, and clothing shops.

Electronics Sales Surge

A surge in sales is being observed, particularly for refrigerators, TVs, and other electronic appliances given as gifts to brides. Shopkeepers estimate good business during the 15-day wedding season.

Jewellery Sales Affected by High Prices

However, jewellery shopkeepers say purchases are lower this time. Due to rising prices of gold and silver, people are buying lighter jewellery. Purchases are not happening like before.

Shops Bustling Across City and Rural Areas

Shops in the city, along with Gola Bazaar, Azad Chowk, Mehdawal Bypass, and rural areas, are bustling with customers. Family members from households with weddings are arriving at shops for shopping.

Shopkeeper Insights on Electronics

Electronics shopkeeper Rizwan explained that wedding ceremonies have started from February 5th. For this, he had already stocked up on gifts given to brides.

“Single-door refrigerators are available from 12,000 to 15,000 rupees, while double-door fridges cost from 22,000 to 30,000 rupees.”

Small LED TVs are in the range of 10,000 to 20,000 rupees, while larger LED TVs are available from 30,000 to one lakh rupees. Coolers range from 5,000 to 20,000 rupees. Additionally, mixer sales are also good.

Discounts and Offers

Shopkeepers said that for buying all wedding items together, discounts of up to 20,000 rupees are being offered, along with separate gifts.

Jewellery Business Perspective

Jewellery businessman Hariram said people are coming to shop.

“But due to increased prices of gold and silver, they prefer lighter jewellery. However, wealthy people are buying jewellery of their choice. While those buying gifts are purchasing jewellery of very light weight.”
Customer Experiences

Customer Seema Singh, whose daughter’s wedding is on February 8th, said she came for shopping. Similarly, Sangam, whose daughter’s wedding is on February 12th, also shopped.

Optimism for the Coming Days

Shopkeepers hope business will improve in the next 15 days. Meanwhile, crowds are also gathering at clothing shops.
