“Vimini,” which marks the first chapter of Bulgari Eternal, draws inspiration from a 1942 bracelet recorded as one of the foundational elements of the brand’s DNA. This distinctive design is reinterpreted as jewelry pieces including necklaces, bracelets, rings, and two types of earrings, alongside unique high jewelry creations. Each piece pursues the ultimate expression and innovation in gold.
Born in an era of material and social constraints due to World War II, this original work is a testament to boundless creativity that breaks through all barriers. The undulating motif, inspired by the essence of Italian Rationalism, unfolds in a rhythmic repetition accentuated by the fusion of pink gold and yellow gold. This not only embodies the color contrast and modular design that would later characterize Bulgari’s style but also highlights the Maison’s signature use of warm gold, in contrast to the French tradition of platinum.
The name “Vimini” (meaning wicker/rattan) naturally evokes the woven nature of its design, reminiscent of the skillful technique by which ancient Greeks and Romans created baskets and everyday objects from straw branches. This ancient craft, passed down through centuries, is reborn through the creativity of Bulgari’s designers and artisans and their innovative goldsmithing techniques.
