SEOUL, Korea (AVING) — The 2008 Korea International Jewelry & Watch Fair (Jewel Fair Korea 2008, www.jewelfair.com), the largest jewelry exhibition in Korea, was held from April 24th to 27th at Halls 3 and 4 (Convention Hall and Atlantic Hall) of COEX in Samseong-dong. The event was organized by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Jeollabuk-do Province, and the Small and Medium Business Administration.

Marking its 6th anniversary this year, the fair featured participation from over 350 companies from 19 countries across approximately 600 booths. Exhibitors included international firms such as Germany’s Blume, Japan’s Tasaki, Golay Buchel, and Singapore’s Taka Jewellery, as well as domestic jewelry brands like Princess, GP Diamond, Coa Jewelry, Geukdong Jewelry, and Gembro’s.

Focus on Export Market Development

Regarding this year’s fair, KITA emphasized its focus on attracting high-purchasing-power buyers from various countries to support participating companies in exploring export markets. Last year saw 996 buyers in attendance, and this year, expectations were set for around 1,000 buyers to participate in export consultations with exhibiting companies.

Side Events and Attractions

Side events included a special exhibition of award-winning works from the International Jewelry Design Competition, a jewelry fashion show showcasing the latest jewelry trends, and the ‘Best Jewelry Lady’ awards ceremony honoring the female celebrity who best complemented jewelry among the most popular stars of the year.
Additionally, the fair featured a display of unique jewelry exhibits, including pieces from the Iksan Jewelry Museum collection, along with various attractions such as mini jewelry fashion shows and colored gemstone identification services.
