This report highlights a significant export achievement for Mauritius’s jewelry sector, demonstrating the value of international trade participation. The successful delegation to the JCK Las Vegas show underscores how strategic industry support can translate into tangible economic gains.

Seven local jewelry companies secured orders worth Rs 52 million by participating in the JCK Las Vegas Jewellery Show, one of the most important trade fairs for the industry, held from May 30 to June 2. The delegation was led by Enterprise Mauritius.
The JCK show brings together approximately 2,500 exhibitors, who present a wide variety of jewelry, watches, diamonds, and precious stones to over 20,000 of the world’s most significant buyers. It features innovative collections, international styles, and the latest trends. The event was a success for the local participants. It allowed them to strengthen their presence in the American market, promote their products to buyers who appreciated the designs and quality of jewelry made in Mauritius, and also promote local expertise. Participation in this fair will be highly beneficial given the Rs 52 million in orders received.
Participants in the JCK show stated that several valuable contacts were established.
The sector comprises 523 jewelers registered with the Assay Office, including 18 export-oriented companies. The sector employs about 2,500 people and generates exports of approximately Rs 4.2 billion.
Jewelry manufacturers offer a wide range of products to the international clientele. Despite the complex structure of this industry compared to the textile and agri-food sectors, the jewelry sector recorded exceptional performance from 2009 to 2013, with 90% growth over these five years. Indeed, our exports increased from Rs 2.3 million in 2009 to Rs 4.2 million in 2013.
