Christie’s will auction the largest “Golconda Blue Diamond” in history next month in Geneva, with an estimated price of up to $50 million, potentially setting a new record for blue diamond auctions.

This 23.24-carat “Golconda Blue Diamond” shimmers with a captivating blue light and boasts a prestigious provenance, having once been part of the collection of Yeshwant Rao Holkar, the Maharaja of Indore in India.

The blue diamond originates from the famous Golconda Mines in south-central India, one of the world’s most renowned diamond-producing regions, which has yielded legendary gems including the “Hope Diamond” and the “Koh-i-Noor”. The Hope Diamond is now housed at the Smithsonian Institution in the United States, while the Koh-i-Noor is set in the British Crown.

The “Golconda Blue Diamond” will be auctioned in Geneva on May 14th, with an estimated value between $35 million and $50 million.
