Expert Commentary
“The special thing about this stone is that it has remained unchanged for over a hundred years. The weight has remained the same, at 23.24 carats. It hasn’t changed shape, weight, or size, which in itself is very rare,” said Rahul Kadakia, International Head of Jewellery at Christie’s.

Legendary Origins

The blue diamond originates from the famous Golconda Mines in south-central India, one of the world’s most renowned diamond-producing regions, which has yielded legendary gems including the “Hope Diamond” and the “Koh-i-Noor”. The Hope Diamond is now housed at the Smithsonian Institution in the United States, while the Koh-i-Noor is set in the British Crown.
