Editor’s Note

This development, while seemingly modest, marks a strategic and foundational step in addressing a significant gap in a previously underserved sector.

A Strategic Installation in an Underserved Area

The news may seem ordinary, but it represents a strategic and foundational installation in a sector that has been quite poorly served in this regard.

The First Laboratory in Le Diamant Opens

Located facing the sea, not far from the covered market, in the brand-new premises of the medical center, the very first analysis laboratory in Le Diamant has opened its doors.
Since May 21st, patients have been welcomed from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday to Friday, and from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Saturdays.
They can have all routine tests performed. The laboratory is accessible without an appointment, but online time slots are also possible.

This is a complementary service on a site that houses many healthcare professionals: doctors, nurses, a midwife, and a dietitian.

A Project in Close Collaboration with the Town

A project carried out in close collaboration with the town.
Hugues Toussay, the mayor of the town, expresses his delight at this establishment:

“This is truly good news for the entire population of Le Diamant and the surrounding municipalities. We worked on it, somewhat in the background. It was a desire of the municipality. We had the experience of the COVID period. All residents had to go to Rivière-Salée and Sainte-Luce to queue from 5 o’clock in the morning. This is part of the elements that make the town attractive, especially with a growing population.”
Details from the Medical Biologist

Pierre Manconce, a medical biologist at Cerballiance Martinique, details the laboratory’s activities:

“We had the opportunity to integrate into this medical center with well-located premises and a doctor right next door. It was a bit of a desert in that regard. We welcome patients and also take samples from nurses. We also offer an online registration system for patients who want to get a little ahead. We were well received by the other healthcare professionals.”
A Relief for Local Independent Nurses

This installation is a real relief for the independent nurses in the sector.
Elodie Souchette, an independent nurse, does not hide her satisfaction at seeing this infrastructure in the municipality:

“It’s a gem. We needed it. The nearest lab is in Rivière-Salée and is very congested, so we had a huge number of requests for home blood draws. This is excellent news for the municipality and all the neighboring municipalities.”
