A blue diamond, classified as a rare gemstone worldwide, has been reborn as a ring and will appear on the auction market. The estimated appraisal value of this 5.16-carat ring reaches 5.8 million US dollars (approximately 8 billion Korean won).

First Appearance at Sotheby’s Hong Kong

The British daily newspaper The Telegraph recently reported, “A boat-shaped blue diamond ring will be offered at a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong on April 7,” adding, “This is the first time a vivid blue color diamond has appeared on the auction market.”

Distinctive Weight and Design

This blue diamond is distinctive from its weight alone, reaching a substantial 5.16 carats. The entire ring is crafted from white gold, and the sides of the blue diamond are adorned with transparent diamonds, enhancing its visual impact. Its design and aesthetic aspects are also impeccable.

High Auction Expectations
“Given that blue diamonds are a rare variety, it is expected that the auction hammer price will be at least 8 billion won,” said an auction official, expressing optimism. “As the Hong Kong market is recognized globally as the largest gemstone sales hub, we anticipate excellent auction results.”
