Hong Kong, August 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The organizer of the JNA Awards, Jewellery News Asia (JNA), has announced that the Lifetime Achievement Award for the second JNA Awards will be presented to industry stalwart Leung Sik-wah, JP. Mr. Leung is the Permanent Honorary President of the Hong Kong Diamond Bourse and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Leung was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2009.
The award will be presented to Mr. Leung at the JNA Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner on September 12, 2013, at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, in recognition of his long-term contributions to the jewellery industry. The Headline Partners for the second JNA Awards are Chow Tai Fook Jewellery and Rio Tinto Diamonds. The Honourable Partners are Gubelin, the Israel Diamond Institute, KARP Group, Robert Wan Group, and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange.

In 1985, Mr. Leung led the industry in establishing the Hong Kong Diamond Bourse, helping to solidify Hong Kong’s status as one of the world’s top five diamond trading centres. He served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Diamond Bourse from 1985 to 1991, was later elected President, and currently holds the position of Permanent Honorary President. He initiated the Bourse’s “Integrity Assurance Scheme,” which enhances sales transparency in the jewellery industry and actively promotes a credible and reliable business model.
Since 1971, as Chairman of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, Mr. Leung has worked closely with various government departments to develop a reliable and regulated industry model that protects consumer rights. This includes the successful implementation of the “Quality Gold Mark” and, more recently, the “Natural Jadeite Mark.” Mr. Leung is also a major figure in the international pearl industry, having pioneered the introduction of South Sea and Tahitian pearl auctions to Hong Kong.
