The Passion for Diamonds and Creation Remains Unchanged
Parisian high jewelry brand Messika celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025. Founder and Artistic Director Valerie Messika, who inherited a love for brilliance from her father, a diamond dealer, has expressed strength and flexibility through her jewelry.
“My passion for diamonds and creation has not changed since the brand’s founding. The 20th anniversary marks the beginning of a new chapter. It’s more of a milestone to move forward into the future than to look back on the past.”
Reinterpreting the Brand’s Symbol “Move”
In the commemorative collection announced in July 2025, she reinterpreted the brand’s symbol “Move.” The design, where diamonds flow in a continuous line, resembles a ribbon of light.
“This is the very image of Messika that I envision. It can be worn by anyone, transcending gender and generation.”
Valerie notes that while the brand has grown steadily, it becomes more difficult to protect its DNA as it gets bigger.
“You should share values with the right people and have teammates who run with the same passion and energy. Fortunately, I have been blessed with a team that genuinely loves the brand. Eventually, I would like to try creating things that go beyond the realm of jewelry.”
The Importance of Timing and Building the Present
She has even been approached about creating a perfume.
“Of course, I’m interested, and in the future, I’d like to try my hand at watches, bags, interior items, and more. But it’s crucial to judge the right timing. Above all, I believe it’s important to carefully build upon the present.”
Even with a busy schedule, time with family is essential.
“Both life and work are ultimately about balance. I want to move forward while enjoying the journey.”
