Editor’s Note
The personal collection of a beloved public figure often reveals a private story. As the jewelry of TV doctor Antje-Katrin Kühnemann goes to auction, it offers a glimpse into the life of a woman remembered by millions for her medical advice, through the cherished objects she kept close.

Seven months after her death, the extensive jewelry and watch collection of TV icon Antje-Katrin Kühnemann is set to be auctioned. The physician, who hosted health advice programs on German television for 34 years, amassed a collection of precious pieces throughout her life. Some were heirlooms from her mother and grandmother, while others were gifts from her late husband, Jörg Gühring.
According to reports, the estimated total value of the collection exceeds twelve million euros. The proceeds from the auction will go to her heirs. Although Kühnemann had no children of her own, she adopted her late brother’s son. Her favorite nephew, Dirk Kühnemann, along with his wife and children, his brother, and his nieces, are among the beneficiaries who can expect a multi-million euro windfall.
Kühnemann, known for her glamorous appearance at events, had stipulated the auction of her valuables in her will.
Sotheby’s will auction the most valuable jewels in five separate sales. Jewelry enthusiasts can bid online or in person in Hong Kong (September 13-24 and September 19), Paris (October 30), and Geneva (October 31 and November 12). Highlights in Hong Kong include a diamond ring with an estimated value of up to 328,000 euros. The high-caliber collection also features a Cartier bracelet with various gemstones and a necklace from the Bavarian jeweler Schreiner. Meanwhile, the Dorotheum in Vienna will auction 246 lower-value pieces, including wristwatches.
