A diamond named ‘Pink Legacy’ weighing 18.96 carats was sold for 50.375 million Swiss francs (approximately 57.4 billion won) at a Christie’s auction held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 13th (local time), according to reports from AFP and other news agencies.

The Pink Legacy, considered the highest grade among pink diamonds in terms of purity, color, and size, was acquired by the American luxury brand Harry Winston, which is owned by the Swiss watchmaking group Swatch Group. The BBC reported that “the diamond was sold for a price exceeding its estimated value (30-50 million Swiss francs) within just five minutes of the auction starting.”
Auction house Christie’s stated that the Pink Legacy was sold at the highest price per carat ever achieved for a diamond of its color, and it is the second most expensive diamond ever sold at auction.

The per-carat price of the Pink Legacy reached 2.6 million dollars (approximately 2.97 billion won).
The winning bidder, Harry Winston, has decided to rename the diamond ‘The Winston Pink Legacy’.
