A Last-Minute Withdrawal

It is an unusual turn of events, of the kind only exceptional jewels can offer. After announcing that the Golconda Blue, a mythical diamond that had been lost to history, would be the star of its May sale in Geneva, the auction house Christie’s has withdrawn it from the market at the last minute.

“The historical provenance of the Golconda Blue, revealed by Christie’s research, has generated considerable market interest and much excitement. The owners have ultimately decided to proceed with the sale of the diamond to a member of their family.”
