This article announces the opening of applications for an online jewelry design course, highlighting its accessibility to beginners. We present it as a potential opportunity for readers interested in creative skills development.

Digital Jewelry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yoshihisa Sato) is now accepting applications for the September intake of its online “Jewelry Designer Training Course,” starting Friday, July 14, 2023. The course aims to cultivate new jewelry designers to create jewelry worlds suited for the metaverse era.
Our company, which operates this training course, is dedicated to digitizing the jewelry business. In the jewelry industry, processes such as planning/design, manufacturing, and sales are often separate. Furthermore, jewelry production requires high-level craftsmanship, which is one reason the industry has been slow to adopt IT. Conversely, it is an industry with significant potential for transformation if digitalization advances.
Traditionally, becoming an independent jewelry designer in the industry required technical skills and specialized knowledge. Even to create a single piece of jewelry, after designing it, one needed to make a plaster mold and cast it. Equipping oneself with the entire process, including polishing the jewelry, also required significant funding. By taking our training course, our students gain the right to use our company’s 3D printer resin for direct casting. For the parts requiring artisan skills, our company provides full support. Therefore, even those with no experience in the jewelry industry can design jewelry with minimal capital and a computer.
In the Jewelry Designer Training Course, participants will learn design techniques using jewelry CAD software on a computer over two months. As a practical exercise, a ring designed by the student will be modeled using the 3D printer at our factory, and the finished product, including casting and finishing, will be provided.
After graduation, there are various options, such as directly selling designed jewelry to acquaintances or customers, listing designed jewelry on our company’s sales website, or becoming an instructor for the Jewelry Designer Training Course.
