New Art Est-Ouest Auctions will hold an all-genre auction in Ginza, Tokyo, on Saturday, February 22nd. The auction will feature 326 lots, including modern and contemporary art, Oriental art, Western antiques, and jewelry. An online catalog showcasing all lots is currently available.
A preview exhibition will be held from Wednesday, February 19th, to Friday, February 21st, in Ginza 1-chome, Tokyo. Admission is free, and visitors can view the items freely during the exhibition period.
Modern art offerings include Bernard Buffet’s oil painting “Brittany Landscape” and valuable prints by artists such as Tsuguharu Foujita, Joan Miró, and Marc Chagall. Contemporary art features 120 works by globally acclaimed artists like Rei Imai, Tomohiro Takahashi, Mayuka Yamamoto, and Ayako Rokkaku.
Western art features rare Art Nouveau glassworks, including Daum’s “Algae and Fish Vase” (a piece with a counterpart in the Kitazawa Museum of Art) and Lalique’s exceptionally rare perfume bottle “Lizard’s Ear.” Also notable are works by Raoul Larche and porcelain plaques from KPM Berlin.
This section presents valuable calligraphy and paintings, including ancient scripts from the Heian to Kamakura periods, works by Ryokan and Saigo Takamori from the Edo to Meiji periods, and old paintings with provenance from established families. Ceramics feature rare Imari ware with Dutch figure motifs, blue-and-white floral plates, “Himiko’s Book” by the new craft artist Ryusaku, and lusterware by Takuo Kato. Selected Chinese antiquities are also offered.
Focusing on ladies’ jewelry, lots range from fashionable design pieces to rare BVLGARI rings and bracelets, and Cartier’s popular “Panthère” series. Vintage items from Hermès, Rolex, and Omega are also available for viewing.
