This article reports on the grand opening of a major international jewelry event in Shanwei, Guangdong. The conference and exhibition, a key provincial initiative, aims to boost the local colored gemstone industry through innovative formats and global engagement.
On November 1, the 2025 China Shanwei Colored Gemstone Industry Development Conference & First Shanwei International Jewelry Exhibition grandly opened in Shanwei, Guangdong. Centered on the theme “Gems Gather in Shanwei, Brilliance Links the Globe,” the event innovatively adopted a “conference + exhibition” model. It is a key series of activities under Guangdong Province’s “Cross-border E-commerce + Industrial Belt” initiative to support the “Hundreds, Thousands, Tens of Thousands Project,” aiming to connect Shanwei’s jewelry industry with global resources and propel it towards high-end development.
The event was structured around “1 Industry Development Conference + 1 Themed Exhibition + 6 Supporting Activities,” designed to fully unleash the development vitality of Shanwei’s colored gemstone, gold, and silver jewelry industry through diverse scenarios and content.
The Industry Development Conference was held on the morning of November 1 at the Haifeng Haidi Wyndham Hotel, featuring three segments: “Distinguished Guest Tour – Opening Ceremony – Keynote Speeches,” aiming to build global industry consensus. During the opening ceremony, leaders from Guangdong Province, the President of the World Jewelry Confederation, leaders from the China Gems & Jewelry Trade Association, and leaders from the Shanwei Municipal Government delivered speeches, charting the course for industry development. The conference also saw the release of the “Gemports Index (GPI)” (an authoritative index focusing on the colored gemstone industry, providing data support for industry pricing and trend analysis), the unveiling ceremony for the “Shanwei Damei Fashion Industry Technology Innovation Center” (establishing a platform for industrial technology R&D and commercialization), and the signing of major investment and trade agreements to promote deep cooperation across the industry chain. In the keynote speech segment, representatives from international associations, industry experts, scholars, and heads of leading enterprises shared insights, providing intellectual support for the internationalization of Shanwei’s jewelry industry.
The First Shanwei International Jewelry Exhibition ran from November 1 to 3 simultaneously at the Haifeng Haidi Wyndham Hotel (main exhibition area), the Ketang Jewelry Trading Market (Ketang sub-venue), and the Meilong International Trade City (Meilong sub-venue), attracting over 3,000 participating enterprises. The main exhibition area featured eight themed zones including gemstones, gold & silver jewelry, and pearls, covering the entire industry chain from finished colored gemstone products, raw materials, and processing equipment to talent cultivation. It also included a live-streaming zone and a craftsmanship experience zone, integrating innovative formats like online sales and intangible cultural heritage skill demonstrations. The Ketang and Meilong sub-venues focused on the exhibition and sales of colored gemstones, and gold & silver jewelry respectively, achieving “integration of exhibition and trade.”
The supporting activities extended industrial value, balancing professionalism and spectacle. They included a field visit to the Haifeng Gold & Silver Jewelry Industry Belt, the award ceremony for the first “Shanmei Yicai · Linking the Future” Shanwei Colored Gemstone Design Competition, the Shanwei Jewelry · Dazzling Light Fashion Show, the 2025 Shanwei Autumn Consumption Festival, the Member Congress and Preparatory Meeting for Leadership Transition of the Colored Gemstone Branch of the China Gems & Jewelry Trade Association, and the special event “World Jewelry, Shanwei Leads the Trend” for the Shanwei Haifeng Gold & Silver Jewelry Industry Belt. These activities showcased the integration of culture and industry through rich scenarios.
As an international industry event, it attracted global high-quality resources, with approximately 300 attendees including industry association representatives and cross-border e-commerce platform delegates, providing policy and resource support for industrial development. In addition to over 3,000 exhibitors, the exhibition attracted more than 1,000 professional buyers and investors. The main exhibition area gathered key domestic and international jewelry enterprises, university research institutions, and renowned live-streaming teams, while the sub-venues connected with local industrial clusters, achieving precise alignment between “global resources and local industry” and efficiently integrating resources across the industry chain. Shanwei, honored with the dual titles of “China’s Colored Gemstone Capital” and “China’s Jewelry Capital,” is presenting a new image to the world.
This event not only showcased Shanwei’s industrial achievements but also, through key measures such as releasing an industry index, establishing an innovation platform, and deepening integration with cross-border e-commerce, aims to help Shanwei compete for global pricing power in the colored gemstone industry and propel the regional industry towards internationalization, branding, and high-end development.
