During a conversation with Local 18, Akhilesh Pandey, an astrologer at Grah Sthanam in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, explained the special significance of gemstones in astrology and life.
To test a ruby, place it on a silver plate in sunlight. If the silver starts appearing red, the ruby is real.
To identify a pearl, drop it into a glass of water. If rays appear emanating in the water, the pearl is real.
To test coral, rub it on glass or a mirror. If no sound is produced, the coral is real. Also, put a few drops of hydrochloric acid on the coral. If it foams, it is real.
To identify an emerald, rub it on turmeric. If the turmeric turns red, the emerald is real. Additionally, when an emerald is placed in a glass of water, green rays should be visible.
Keep topaz in milk for a day. If its color or shine does not change, it is real.
To test a diamond, drop it into hot milk. If the milk cools down immediately, the diamond is real.
Drop a sapphire into a glass of water. If blue rays appear on the surface of the water, it is real.
Hessonite does not have bubbles. If its color changes after being kept in cow’s urine for 24 hours, it is real.
Lehsunia does not break even when rubbed on a stone. Its shine is clearly visible when kept in a dark room.
