Loro Piana will integrate blockchain technology to trace its rare Black Mountain wool starting in January 2025, enhancing transparency for its luxury clientele.

According to multiple Italian media reports, Loro Piana, the Italian luxury brand under the LVMH Group, will adopt traceability technology for Black Mountain wool in its Spring/Summer 2025 collection starting from January.

By utilizing a digital certificate stored on the Aura Blockchain Consortium platform, customers can simply scan a QR code attached to the product to trace the entire journey of the fiber—from goat breeding to yarn and finally to the finished garment.

Black Mountain wool is a rare type of wool, naturally undyed, featuring unique shades of black, brown, and grey. Loro Piana’s Fall/Winter 2024/2025 collection already incorporated a unique yarn made from this wool. This yarn is created by intertwining three strands, each in a different dark hue, producing a distinctive three-dimensional visual effect.

Since 2003, Loro Piana has been sourcing this Black Mountain wool exclusively from the Gardner family in New Zealand.
