A 67-year-old farmer-laborer from Rahuniya village in Panna district, Govind Singh, found a 4.4-carat diamond while returning from a temple visit. The diamond is estimated to be worth over 20 lakh rupees. The diamond office has confirmed the find, and the auction process will begin. The family considers it a blessing from the goddess.
According to information, Govind Singh had gone to visit the Mata’s Madia temple in the morning. While returning via the temple road, his eye suddenly caught a shining stone in the gravel. Seeing the stone’s sparkle, he became suspicious and picked it up. When he showed it to his family members at home, everyone was astonished. Later, on the advice of his relatives, Govind went to the diamond office with his son Jahar Singh and deposited the diamond.
Expert Anupam Singh from the Panna Diamond Office stated that the diamond deposited by Govind Singh is 4.4 carats. It is an extremely bright and pure diamond. Its market price could be around 20 lakh rupees or more. Currently, the diamond will go through the auction process and be deposited into the government’s revenue, after which the finder will be provided the amount as per established rules.
After the news of the diamond find spread, a stream of well-wishers gathered at Govind Singh’s house. The entire family is excited. Son Jahar Singh said that with the money from the diamond, the family’s basic needs will be met first, and the remaining funds will be used for the children’s education and farming.
The land of Panna district is known across the country for diamonds. Here, diamonds are searched for by digging small pits in mining leases issued by the government. Often, people remain disappointed even after years of hard work, but sometimes, sudden luck can make a poor person a lakhpati. Finding a diamond on a temple road is considered an extremely rare coincidence.
