Gemfields Group Limited, a global leader in colored gemstone mining and marketing, announced that the Imboo emerald, the largest gem-quality rough ever recorded at 11,685 carats, will be offered at its latest top-tier emerald auction held from August 25 to September 11.

The Imboo emerald originates from the Kagem emerald mine in Zambia. It was discovered in the Chama pit by geologist Dharanidhar Seth and veteran miner Justin Banda, and was unearthed on August 3 this year.
While Gemfields did not disclose a pre-sale estimate for the rough stone, Adrian Banks, the company’s Product & Sales Director, commented on its significance:
