The Cordoba-based company La Perla Food, dedicated to the preparation of pre-cooked foods, presented its expansion plans this Tuesday at the Cordoba City Hall. The CEO of La Perla, Javier Paniagua, and the Mayor of Cordoba, José María Bellido, informed about the key aspects of this growth project and the support received from the City Hall, which has declared these plans to be of special interest to the city, implying greater speed in processing administrative procedures.
Regarding the company’s growth project, Paniagua explained that nearly nine million euros will be invested in two phases, with the majority in the first phase to build a new production center of over 10,000 square meters at Rabanales 21. The CEO highlighted that this initiative will double the workforce, increasing from just over fifty workers to more than 110. Furthermore, most of the new hires will be technical personnel.
Paniagua recalled that La Perla was founded in the late 1990s and has been growing within the market and the agri-food industry. Since its origins, La Perla has been located in La Torrecilla, where it will maintain its facilities during the first phase of this growth plan.
Regarding its main activity, this Cordoba-based company is dedicated to preparing pre-cooked meals and fourth and fifth-range products, which it distributes to supermarkets, restaurants, as well as hospitals, schools, and penitentiary centers, among others. The CEO stated the company’s mission:
He noted they are already achieving this, as they operate outside of Spain and currently have distribution warehouses in Seville and Malaga.
For his part, Mayor José María Bellido pointed out that Cordoba is currently experiencing a moment of “reindustrialization” where “we talk a lot, and rightly so, about logistics or defense,” but he emphasized that “we cannot forget that Cordoba has an important agri-food industry.” With the aim of continuing to promote it, he added, the local governing board yesterday declared La Perla’s growth project to be of special interest to the city, because it is an initiative, he said:
The mayor valued that La Perla Food’s plans will involve an investment of nearly nine million euros in a growth area like Rabanales 21, quintupling the current turnover and exceeding one hundred workers.
