Editor’s Note
The Natural Diamond Council has expanded its membership with the addition of Angola’s two major state-owned diamond entities, ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P. This move follows the completion of all required legal and regulatory procedures.

Shanghai, January 22 — The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) announced that Angola’s two major state-owned diamond entities, ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P., have officially become members of the Council after completing all legal and regulatory procedures.
ENDIAMA E.P. (Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola) is Angola’s state-owned diamond mining company, responsible for the development and management of the country’s diamond resources. It is dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of the diamond industry, ensuring that natural diamonds continue to create value for national development and public welfare.
SODIAM E.P. (Sociedade de Comercialização de Diamantes de Angola) is Angola’s state-owned diamond trading entity and the sole official channel for the export of Angolan natural diamonds. It is responsible for the sales, promotion, and commercial management of the country’s natural diamonds in international markets.
The accession of ENDIAMA and SODIAM extends and solidifies the common direction established by the Cuanza Agreement. Signed in June 2025 by multiple diamond-producing countries and relevant parties, including Angola, Botswana, Namibia, and representatives from the midstream diamond industry, the agreement reflects a shared consensus on supporting the long-term development of the natural diamond industry and expresses continued concern for the communities and people whose livelihoods depend on it.
According to the spirit of the agreement, all parties will leverage the NDC platform to undertake practical actions such as market promotion and consumer education. These efforts aim to maintain the long-term healthy development and industry credibility of the natural diamond sector, continuously deepen consumer understanding of the true value of natural diamonds, and inspire emotional resonance and aspiration. Recently, the Angolan side has completed its capital contribution, tangibly demonstrating the positive commitments made since the launch of the Cuanza Agreement.

Simultaneously, the NDC Board of Directors is reviewing and finalizing relevant governance documents to expand participation from all parties in the industry chain, optimize the Council’s operational mechanisms, enhance transparency and communication efficiency, and ensure the Council’s development better aligns with the practical needs of the industry.
These positive developments collectively signal that the Natural Diamond Council has entered a new chapter filled with confidence and oriented towards the future. In the ongoing process of advancing its mission, the Council will continue to safeguard and enhance the credibility, market appeal, and timeless value significance of natural diamonds on a global scale.
