This article highlights the notable surge in silver prices ahead of the festive season, with its value poised to cross a significant threshold. The trend underscores shifting consumer interest and market dynamics during this period.

Prices of gold and silver in the bullion market continue to rise ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras. People have started their festive shopping, with a large number of customers arriving for purchases. However, this time, silver’s shine has become brighter than gold’s. The price of 1 kilogram of silver is set to cross 2 lakh rupees.
According to a Bloomberg report, silver prices crossed 1.9 lakh rupees per kilogram on Thursday, October 16. On Dhanteras, customers buy gold and silver jewelry and idols, so prices could rise further.
This Dhanteras, a large number of people are buying jewelry in 24-carat, 22-carat, and 18-carat gold. There is also a significant number of people who buy silver coins on Dhanteras, which are expected to be expensive this time.
The report states that this year, platinum prices have increased by nearly 80%, and silver by about 75%. Meanwhile, gold demand is mostly linked to jewelry and investment, while silver also has substantial industrial use.
In recent years, pressure has been on silver supply due to increased demand in the industrial sector. While sufficient silver reserves exist worldwide, there is no expectation of a price decline. It is noted that on MCX, 1 kilogram of silver for December 2025 delivery was trading at 1,63,499 rupees, which is 2,164 rupees or more than 1.33% higher than the previous price.
