The government has set a February 10 deadline for launching the gold exchange and is preparing market intervention measures to ensure stability.
The government has requested that the gold exchange be put into operation before February 10, along with preparing intervention measures to stabilize the market if necessary.
This information was provided by Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son during the regular government press conference on the afternoon of February 4.
At the press conference, Mr. Son emphasized solutions to achieve socio-economic goals in 2026. Specifically, these included closely monitoring developments in the gold market and promptly implementing measures to stabilize it if necessary; as well as striving to launch a gold trading floor before February 10, run a pilot project for a cryptocurrency exchange, and establish real estate and land use rights trading centers, to ensure safety, robustness, transparency, and openness.
It also includes requirements to control inflation, properly manage interest rates, exchange rates, and foreign currency, ensure the value of the Vietnamese currency, direct credit towards production and business, priority sectors, development factors, social housing, etc., and strictly control and ensure credit quality in potentially risky areas.
Strive to increase budget revenue in 2026 by at least 10% compared to 2025 figures; strengthen management and promote the stable, safe, and efficient development of stock and corporate bond markets.
Ensure adequate supply of electricity, fuel, essential goods, and raw materials for production, business, and daily life; promote the development of a safe, healthy, and sustainable real estate market.
Effectively utilize the National Housing Fund, accelerate the construction of social housing, especially rental housing, and strive to complete over 110,000 social housing units by 2026.
Furthermore, we will revitalize traditional growth factors and strongly promote new factors to achieve double-digit growth rates. This includes accelerating the allocation and disbursement of public investment capital, efficiently operating the international financial center, and completing the national single-window investment portal.
Strongly develop the domestic market and e-commerce, especially during the Lunar New Year. Stimulate domestic consumption, strengthen trade promotion, including the effective organization of the Spring Fair and other large-scale trade, industrial, agricultural, and service fairs.
Strictly implement price declaration and listing regulations; severely punish violators, prevent hoarding and price gouging; combat smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement.
Diversifying markets, products, and supply chains is linked to building high-quality Vietnamese brands; effectively utilizing 17 signed free trade agreements; negotiating new free trade agreements; expanding into and effectively exploiting new markets, especially halal markets, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa…
Promote the implementation of Resolution 57, which includes strengthening support for the application of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, green transition, low-carbon emissions, and resource conservation; and formulating sufficiently strong policies to promote the development of Vietnam’s digital technology industrial enterprises.
The minister also stated that the government emphasizes the need to accelerate the effective implementation of the Politburo’s 9 key proposals. This includes resolving delayed and long-stalled projects; removing obstacles in production and business; and promoting the mobilization and efficient use of resources for development.
Continuously improve the organization of the administrative apparatus and regulations for the effective operation of the two-tier local government. Focus on developing culture and society, ensuring social security, improving people’s lives, especially ensuring people can enjoy the Spring Festival and celebrate Tet; implement policies for individuals with outstanding service, policy beneficiaries, areas affected by natural disasters, remote areas, border areas, and islands… Ensure workers are paid salaries and Tet bonuses according to regulations.
Strengthen and improve national defense and security; maintain social order and safety; pay attention to ensuring absolute security during important political events, especially the elections of representatives for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; promote foreign relations and international integration; strengthen and improve the effectiveness of information and communication to build social consensus.
